Historic town hall Frankenberg (Eder)
Marktplatz

Telephone: +49 6451 717672
Historic half-timbered town hall from 1509, one of the most beautiful town halls in Germany. The 10 towers stand for the city's 10 guilds. At 11:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m., a carillon rings out and plays different melodies every month. A wedding room is located on the 1st floor.
Above the entrance portals are piggyback figures (Knaggen) with musicians and jesters, indicating that the hall was used for festive purposes. These figures and the figure of St. Christopher on the west side were created by the sculptor and model carver Philipp Soldan (ca. 1500-1570), a son of Frankenberg who was known far beyond the town's borders. Every Saturday, the Rathausausschirn comes to life when the countrywomen's weekly market is held there.
From April 1 to October 31, a free guided tour of the town takes place on Saturdays at 10:30 a.m., starting at the water fountain in front of the historic town hall.
