Between Edertal-Hemfurth and Edertal-Bringhausen, the ER 3 winds through the surrounding countryside. In the Edertal valley, it follows the Eder Bike Trail, which is lined with stations along the Ederauen Nature Trail. The Eder is considered the cleanest river in Hesse. Gravel banks, rapids, and riparian forests evoke the scenery of wild river landscapes. Near Giflitz, the ER 3 leaves the Eder Bike Trail and follows the Wesetal Nature Trail all the way to Gellershausen.
The romantic Wesebach Valley is one of the most scenic areas in the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park. Between Gellershausen and Bringhausen, the ER 3 crosses the national park, passing through Tannentriesch and by the Sauermilchplatz. Here, along the 27-kilometer-long Edersee, one of Central Europe’s largest contiguous beech forests is protected. The forests of the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park, spanning some 7,500 hectares, offer unique nature experiences all year round.
