The ER 4 extends the loop of the ER 3 with a detour to the traditional spa town of Bad Wildungen. From Edertal Hemfurth, the ER 4 follows the Eder Cycle Path and the Ederauen Adventure Trail. At Wellen, the ER 4 leaves the Eder Valley and follows the gently ascending Wildetal Valley. Hilltops and valleys characterize the lovely landscape. Over rocky ground on steep valley slopes, rare and precious plants thrive. Carbonated mineral springs bubble to the surface. They have made Bad Wildungen’s spa park—the largest in Europe—and its spa facilities world-famous. Laid out in the English style well over 100 years ago, the park delights visitors with a riot of colorful blooms, healing springs, water features, and its shady avenues—which lead past bandstands and the popular Kurpark Café —lead to the imposing promenade hall.
