Built in 1870/71, the building bears witness to the prosperity of its builder, the farmer Wilhelm Haase. The two-storey gabled house made of quarry stone and brick with its slate roof remained in the family until the 1950s, when the Krugmann distillery from Meinerzhagen took over the business and continued to run it until 2007. Since 2008, the building has been used as a village community center, event center and brewery with a bar. An exhibition shows the history of powder production in Kierspe.

The founding of the Historische Brennerei Rönsahl is closely linked to the Eisenstraße Südwestfalen, as the distillery was certainly built because of its location on the route of the Eisenstraße. As early as 1798, Weddingens Neues Westfälisches Magazin describes: " The village has many passages, especially all the coal that is transported to Schwarzenberg and Homburg. Even though the roads there are very miserable, the 4 innkeepers are still very popular.
The army road (since 1811 also called the Chaussee and the new Bergische Eisenstraße ) to Wipperfürth and Remscheid, the coal road from Halver over the Wernscheid "into the Schwarzenbergische", the Bergisch-Märkische border, the powder mills and iron hammers, but also part of the yarn trade from Hesse to Wuppertal were important factors for the establishment of a commercial distillery in Rönsahl.
The building has been a listed building since 1986. After it ceased to be used as a grain distillery, the building stood empty for several years. In 2008, the former distillery was purchased by the local mayor of Rönsahl, who converted the distillery into a cultural and event center.
Today, cultural events and weddings take place in the historic Rönsahl distillery and every 1st Friday of the month the distillery regulars' table is held in the brewery cellar. The top-fermented, naturally cloudy Rönsahler Landbier is brewed here according to the old tradition and the purity law of 1516, which can also be tasted.
